My Total Journey to Health and Fitness

Fitness is something that comes to you over the course of a lifetime, not something that you work at to someday have. It's a journey, not a destination. I know this better than anyone, getting my start as a therapist prior to becoming a personal trainer. Let me start there, at the beginning of my journey.

In 2006, I earned my diploma in Swedish Massage and immediately after took a job as a therapist. It was deeply fulfilling to me to be able to help people overcome their pain and to find some relief that injuries that had in some instances plagued them for years on end. I knew that I was making a difference in people's lives, and that meant the world to me. Whenever someone told me that I had helped them find relief, I felt newly invigorated to continue learning about the human body and to continue applying myself completely to serving others. I have spent all the years since accruing knowledge and honing my skills constantly, and along the way, I came to focus on sports therapy.

In sports therapy, I have designed strategies that are uniquely my own and that combine several different types of techniques: osteopathic manipulation, bio-mechanical screening, training, sports massage, medical acupuncture (dry needling), posture awareness, muscle relaxation, stretching.

It was an injury (lumbar disc prolapse) that led me directly into personal training, though. As I went through the rehabilitation process and gradually regained my strength and my physique, I realized that this was what I could do to make the biggest impact possible on others. Combining what I already knew about therapy with what I was learning about anatomy (and what I had picked up on my own with regards to fitness, especially during a bodybuilding career and two years of CrossFit), I started to guide others along their fitness journeys.
